The Japan Meteorological Agency announced "Northwest Pacific Tsunami Information" to neighboring countries, saying that there is a risk of a tsunami occurring near the epicenter.

When NHK interviewed residents of the Solomon Islands by telephone, they said that people in the capital Honiara, which is about 50 kilometers away from the epicenter, temporarily evacuated to higher ground.
