A fire broke out at a factory in China's inland province of Henan on the 21st, killing 38 people and injuring two.

Local police are investigating the cause of the accident, including detaining factory officials.

According to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency, a fire broke out at a factory in Anyang, inland, Henan Province, on the afternoon of the 21st.



About 60 fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about six and a half hours.



At least 38 people have died in the fire, two of whom are being treated in hospital.



State-run China Central Television reported images of violent flames rising from the factory building over a wide area, and how the pillars of the building were burned and exposed.

According to a Chinese company information site, the factory where the fire occurred handled building materials and clothing in addition to metal products.
