The Pyrénées-Atlantiques department was placed on orange alert for the night of Monday to Tuesday due to heavy rain and a risk of flooding, Météo-France announced.

Locally expected rainfall totals are 90 mm with snow above 1,200 m altitude.

90 mm of precipitation expected locally

"Numerous showers" since Monday morning should turn into a storm in the afternoon and strengthen between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Locally expected rainfall totals are 90 mm (90 liters of water per square meter) with snow above 1,200 m altitude.

The risk of flooding is increased by a "fairly strong swell expected for this night" which could limit the flow of water into the ocean on the Basque coast.
