The recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the young Qatari Ghanim Al-Muftah at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar received wide interaction through communication platforms, and its pioneers praised the young man, who was called “the inspirer” and the official ambassador of the World Cup, amid praise and fascination with the historic opening of the World Cup.
The hashtag #Ghanem_Al-Moftah topped the communication platforms, amid widespread celebration by activists and bloggers, who described the opening of the World Cup in Qatar as "dazzling".
And the key appeared at the opening ceremony of the World Cup alongside the American actor Morgan Freeman, and he recited the noble Quranic verse (O people, indeed We created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes so that you may know one another. disease and challenges
Ghanem Al-Moftah was born on May 5, 2002, and he suffers from caudal retraction syndrome, which is a rare birth defect that occurs at a rate of one in every 25,000 people, and is characterized by abnormal growth of the fetus in some of its parts, especially the lower parts of the spine.
The sacrum and coccyx are often absent with deformation of the lumbar vertebrae, and may be associated with deformities of the urinary and reproductive system;
Which may lead to kidney failure, and in the advanced stages of the disease, shortness of breath may appear as a result of a deformity in the vertebrae of the thoracic spine.
As for its causes, it is mainly related to the mother's infection with diabetes during her pregnancy, and it has genetic causes due to a genetic mutation affecting the "HB9" gene.
The disease afflicted by Ghanem is a "severe" disease, and causes severe disability, which requires intensive health care (physical and psychological) and family and social support to absorb the sensory and moral effects of the disease, and to enable him to gain some autonomy and integrate into his society.
A great challenge faced by the Qatari Moftah Al-Ghanim because of his disability resulting from his birth with half a body. Despite his illness, Ghanem Al-Muftah was not satisfied with merely coexisting with his severe disability, but rather seemed to have overcome and conquered it, as he struggled with his family to impose his presence in his society and to turn into a symbol of challenge, determination and success, generating positive charges not only for people with special needs, but for the healthy as well.
Last April, the Supreme Committee for the Qatar World Cup 2022 chose the Qatari youth, Ghanem Al-Moftah, as an official ambassador for the World Cup, which Qatar is hosting for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East.
At that time, the Qatari youth celebrated his selection as an official ambassador for the tournament, and wrote on his Twitter account, "It is a great honor for me to announce that I have been chosen as an official ambassador for the FIFA World Cup 2022, and I look forward to sharing with you the enthusiasm and excitement on our way to the tournament."
