Bergström believes that overall there is enough evidence to prosecute the man in his 20s who was arrested shortly after the incident last spring.

- Overall, the state of evidence is good, that is my assessment.

There are no witnesses to the act itself, but there are other testimonies that prove what happened and which means that the suspect is still in custody on probable cause, she says.

The prosecution period expires on December 8 and the investigation is in its final phase.

- My ambition is to file charges before Christmas and perhaps as early as December 8.

At the very least, the preliminary investigation must then be ready to be submitted for final service, says Lena-Marie Bergström.

The background: Drug settlement

The background to the shooting death in Karlshamn is believed to be a drug-related settlement.

The victim Herman Nilica, 23, was – as SVT Nyheter Blekinge previously told – stuck in a destructive Oxycontin addiction.

The weapon believed to have been used in the garage has still not been found, according to the prosecutor.

The suspect denies any wrongdoing.

- He denies the shooting, but admits that he was at the scene, says Lena-Marie Bergström.
