After consultations, the two teams reached a five-point consensus on stabilizing and developing bilateral relations:

  1. The importance of Sino-Japanese relations has not changed and will not change.

Jointly abide by the principles of the four political documents between China and Japan, and practice the political consensus of "mutually being partners and not posing threats to each other".

Strengthen high-level exchanges and dialogue and communication, continuously enhance political mutual trust, and work together to build a constructive and stable important relationship that meets the requirements of the new era.

  2. Hold a new round of high-level economic dialogue between China and Japan as soon as possible, strengthen cooperation in the fields of energy conservation and environmental protection, green development, medical care, elderly care, etc., and jointly provide enterprises with a fair, non-discriminatory, and predictable business environment.

  3. Positively comment on the series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan this year.

Hold a new round of China-Japan high-level people-to-people and cultural exchanges consultation mechanism meeting as soon as possible.

Actively carry out exchanges and exchanges between the government, political parties, parliaments, localities and young people.

  Fourth, open the direct telephone line of the defense department's sea and air liaison mechanism as soon as possible, strengthen dialogue and communication between defense and sea-related departments, and jointly abide by the four-point principled consensus in 2014.
