The Libyan army kills and captures extremists and seizes ammunition in a raid near the border with Chad

The Libyan army announced today, Wednesday, that its members managed to kill and capture extremists, and seized ammunition in a raid near the Libyan border with Chad.

The spokesman for the Libyan army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, issued a statement in which he said, "As part of the war on terrorism, units of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces affiliated with the Southwest Security Operations Room raided a den of extremist takfiris in the far southwest, specifically south of the Qatroun area near the Libyan-Chadian border." .

The spokesman added that the Libyan forces "eliminated a group of extremists and two were captured, and our forces also found light and medium weapons, ammunition and two desert SUVs."

Al-Mismari concluded his statement, saying: "Our forces did not lose any of their elements in this operation, which came after a series of monitoring and reconnaissance operations and gathering the necessary information to carry out the attack by surprise to the enemy so that it could not perform any of its defense duties."

Earlier, the commander of the Libyan army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, threatened to "fight a decisive battle to liberate the country if peaceful efforts fail," stressing the need to remove foreign forces from Libya.

Libyan media quoted Haftar as saying during a visit to the Al-Jafra region: "We will move in line with the will of the Libyan people, after all previous paths led us to a dead end and disappointing results."
