A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in the US scientific journal found that money can buy happiness.

It was an experiment that compared people who received $10,000 for free in seven countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya and Australia, and about 13 million won in Korean money and a control group who did not.

The money paid to the experimental group was to be used within 3 months.

As a result of the six-month experiment, the experimental group who received $10,000 showed generally higher levels of happiness than the control group who did not.

However, participants in the high-income group with an original household income of about 160 million won or more did not show a marked increase in happiness.

On the other hand, participants with an annual income of $10,000 were twice as happy as those with an annual income of $100,000.

Netizens responded, "Now you know?! It's a natural experiment, like 'Are you full when you eat?'
