Joe Biden speaking at COP27 apologized for his predecessor's withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, recalling that his administration has launched the largest climate investment package in US history.

"The climate crisis affects human security, economic security, environmental security, national security and the life of the planet itself. Fighting climate change is imperative."

The American president said thanking the US special envoy, John Kerry for the work done.

"Our mission" is "to avoid a climate catastrophe. We aim to reduce emissions by 50-52% by 2030 and the United States will reach its target by date. My commitment to climate is unwavering, we will do our part to avoid climate hell, "he said again.

"COP 27 is a time to write a better story for the world. The US government is putting the money where its climate responsibility commitments are."

The meeting with Al Sisi

Before his speech at COP 27, the American president met his Egyptian namesake.

For his part, the Egyptian president claimed, addressing in particular to the foreign media, that he had a "comprehensive approach" on human rights, with a "national strategy", however saying he was "eager to improve".       

In recent days Biden had said that he intended to join the other international leaders who intervened to ask for the release of Alaa Abd El-Fattah, the Egyptian-British activist since last April on hunger strike, and from Sunday also of thirst.

"I would also like to take the opportunity to speak to the American media about general issues about the

Middle East

and how things are going", concluded the Egyptian president, referring precisely to human rights, speaking of "a comprehensive approach that I would like him to hear. we have to say, because we are eager to improve ".       

"We launched a national human rights strategy - he concluded - and then an initiative for national dialogue, which coincided with a presidential amnesty committee", a strategy openly focused on socio-economic aspects, leaving in the background the issues of restrictions and abuses reported internationally.

stressed the strength and solidity of relations between Egypt and the United States of America, stating that these "relations have not changed for more than 40 years, and that between the two (countries) there is a convergence of visions on different country issues ": the Egyptian state agency Mena reports.
