A company was condemned, this Wednesday, by the judicial court of Pontoise (Val-d'Oise) after the death of a worker on a construction site in Bezons.
On September 16, 2019, the victim, father of three children, fell 9 meters;
relates Le Parisien.
While on the third floor of the building under construction, the worker had passed through a thin polystyrene plate, placed to plug a hopper.
The 43-year-old man died instantly.
Nearly 70,000 euros fine for the company
His employer, SAS Urbaine de travaux, was sentenced for manslaughter and fined 60,000 euros.
Sentenced for the same reason, the works supervisor received a nine-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 5,000 euros.
The company will also have to pay a fine of 10,000 euros because of various breaches.
The worker's son-in-law and nephew will receive 5,000 euros in damages for non-pecuniary damage.
The CGT obtained 1,000 euros.
