The sporting successes have shone with their absence for the A team, which finished second last and fell out of the Damallsvenskan, but on the junior side, the association reaps success as F19 recently won its second straight SM gold and this weekend F17 will play the SM final.

At the end of September, Umeå IK went out and announced that the association had major financial concerns and that there was a lack of two million to manage the finances this year.

1 million as a gift

Since then, the club has received, among other things, a million kroner as a gift from property owner Edgar Sjölund.

The association's fundraising campaign "Stå upp för Umeå IK" has produced very good results among private individuals, while the business world has been more wait-and-see.

With less than two months left in the year, the association still lacks 800,000 kroner and on Tuesday the club announced that if they do not succeed in solving the financial situation, they will close the business.

However, the club's chairman, Krister Ruth, is convinced that the club will manage this.

- The consequences will be, firstly, that we have to pay minimum wages for games and managers, the trips must be the cheapest possible.

We will have to cut an incredible amount, says Krister Ruth, chairman of Umeå IK.

Future plan

Despite the tough financial situation, the association is also looking ahead and has drawn up a future plan where the association will prioritize a long-term and stable economy over sporting success for the A team.

- The youth activities will be the framework in the coming years, I am one hundred percent sure that we will have a fantastic future within UIK, says Krister Ruth.

On November 22, a support concert will be organized for the benefit of Umeå IK.
