A hunger strike has begun on Humanity 1.

Over thirty of the 35 people aboard Humanity 1 have officially started refusing food.

This was reported by members of the crew of the German NGO ship who met some of the activists protesting in front of the quay where the Geo Barents of Doctors Without Borders is moored.

Selective landings and discrimination among migrants do not appeal to the CEI, which returns to reiterate it strongly today with explicit reference to the castaways of the Sos Humanity 1 in Catania.

"The situation is dramatic, unconstitutional, it does not respect the families who are on these ships, it does not respect the fundamental right to rescue of the Geneva Convention", is the strong condemnation of Monsignor Giancarlo Perego, president of the Migrantes Foundation, a CEI organization.

Blitz at the Viminale by a group of activists with Father Alex Zanotelli, the Comboni missionary who has been fasting for some time to protest against "racist policies" against immigrants.
