On Tuesday, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) will present the first budget of the government and the coalition party SD.

Many election promises must be realized - but also financed.

In connection with this, Minister for Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren and Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson now announce the future direction of the policy, under the slogan "investments to improve conditions for rural areas".

More charging stations

It is announced that the government will invest one billion kroner in upgrading the road network in the country and 2.6 billion kroner in the expansion of charging posts and charging capacity, between 2023 and 2025.

- You don't have to travel many miles in our long country to realize that there are very big needs and that we have a maintenance debt when it comes to the road network, says Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson.

The money will, among other things, give the Swedish Transport Agency the opportunity to spend money on pavement maintenance, line painting and bridge repairs.

The investment is made to ensure accessibility and secure competitive infrastructure.

In addition to the investments in the road network, more expected investments were presented, including the addition of an investigation for a hunting and wildlife conservation authority, which was previously announced via the Tidö agreement.

Reduced diesel tax

Minister of Rural Affairs Peter Kullgren (KD) announces that on Tuesday a more concrete proposal will be submitted to lower the tax on agricultural diesel from 1 July to zero kroner and strengthen the travel deduction significantly to "better reflect actual costs" for work commuting, according to Kullgren.

- The proposal contributes to strengthening and maintaining Swedish rural operations, he says during Tuesday's press conference.

The government also wants to invest SEK 600 million in broadband expansion for 2023. All in all, this means SEK 1.3 billion for broadband expansion, including funds from the EU's agricultural policy and previous decisions.
