  Wang Changyou introduced that Hubei is a large ecological province and a large wetland province. It has the largest river, lake and reservoir complex freshwater wetland ecosystem in the country. The province's wetland area reaches 1.7469 million hectares, accounting for 9.4% of the country's land area.

At present, there are 4 wetlands of international importance, 8 wetlands of national importance, and 66 national wetland parks.

  "Hubei will take this conference as an opportunity to learn from the good experience and practices of all parties, and to unite efforts to continuously improve the level of Hubei's wetland protection and management capabilities."   On November 5, the fourteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands opened simultaneously in the main venue in Wuhan, China and the sub-venue in Geneva, Switzerland.

This is also the first time that China has hosted this international conference since its accession to the Convention on Wetlands 30 years ago.

Wuhan, where the conference was held, is the only "international wetland city" in the world with a population of over 10 million.
