• 9 a.m.: in kyiv, scheduled power cuts to avoid a total blackout

Since October 10, the Ukrainian electricity system has been heavily affected by multiple Russian strikes that have targeted energy sites.

In order to avoid a total blackout, the national operator Ukrenergo has therefore implemented scheduled power cuts, in the capital as well as in many cities and regions of Ukraine.

On the operator's website, all you have to do is indicate your address and the cut-off schedule appears for the week, by rotation of districts.

But scheduled outages are no longer enough to relieve the electrical system.

On Saturday, the operator Ukrenergo announced additional restrictions with emergency interruptions, not planned this time.

As winter approaches, the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, said he envisaged "the worst" scenario in the event of new strikes on energy sites: "The one where there will be no more electricity , water and heating.

He announced the preparation of "over a thousand heating points" just in case.

"We have bought electric generators, stored water and everything necessary for these heating points to accommodate people," he said.

  • 8:30 am: Kherson without water or electricity after strikes accused by Moscow and kyiv

After two strikes for which Russians and Ukrainians blame each other, the city of Kherson, in southern Ukraine, still occupied by the Russian army despite a Ukrainian push, was without electricity or water on Sunday and the Kakhovka dam, in the same area, was damaged.

This is the first known power and water cut in Kherson, at the hands of the Russian army since the start of its offensive in Ukraine on February 24.

Kherson is the main Ukrainian city taken by Russian forces since February.

Ukrainian troops have been closing in for several weeks.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Ukrainian military has very rarely touched the civilian energy infrastructures that the Russians have seized, targeting instead the supply lines of the Russian army.

Russia, for its part, has destroyed around 40% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent weeks with the help of suicide missiles and drones, which have led to power and water cuts in many places, including the capital. kyiv.
