For the past year, large swollen bites on the body have been Jessica Ek's everyday life.

She and her family rent an apartment on Råslätt in Jönköping via Vätterhem and got bed bugs from other parts of the house earlier this year.

During two rounds, they have had to move out of the apartment for the cleaning, and it has cost money that the family does not have.

- We are both early retirees and received no compensation or lower rent from Vätterhem.

We had to take help from charities, she says.

Grounds for dismissal

Now they are rid of the lice, but last week Jessica discovered the sofa in the basement corridor which shows clear traces of bedbugs.

When SVT Jönköping gets there, we find a dead louse on the sofa.

Vätterhem has ordered help from a cleaning company to remove the sofa, but it is still there.

- We have to wait until they have time, says Annika Vikström, who is the administrative manager of Vätterhem in Råslätt.

She also says that lice are not expected to move to other places when there are no people around.

- But we take this seriously, we think it is extremely serious and are trying to find out who put the sofa there.

This is grounds for dismissal.
