A resident of Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis) may have been a little too far-sighted not to run out of fuel during the fuel shortage that hit the country last October.

He stored canisters filled with gasoline in his apartment, which caused a fire in his accommodation on Wednesday.

An explosion and a fire

In the morning, he allegedly handled the canisters filled with fuel and accidentally caused a small explosion.

His kitchen would then have caught fire, describes Actu Seine-Saint-Denis.

No other apartment in the building was affected thanks to the intervention of the firefighters.

The man was injured and taken to hospital.

On Twitter, Thursday, the prefecture recalled that it was very dangerous to store cans of gasoline at home.

"To store fuel in jerry cans is to take the risk of: starting a fire, becoming intoxicated by inhaling the vapors", she wrote, judging that they were "useless reserves".
