At the conclusion of the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue “East and West for Human Coexistence”, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa praised the role of Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican, and Sheikh Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, for their work to enrich the Bahrain Forum, stressing the The role of religious leaders in addressing the challenges facing societies.

In his speech at the closing ceremony of the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue, the King of Bahrain said that the forum was a memorable day and a prominent event, because its lofty goals are consistent with what Bahrain seeks for the good of humanity and its elevation.

He stressed the influential role of religious leaders, intellectuals and specialists in addressing the various challenges faced by societies for more peace and stability.

In his speech, the King said that the forum witnessed the participation of elites from the East and West, who pledged themselves to serve humanity and work for its advancement, and united in word and deed to uphold the values ​​of peace, mutual acquaintance and cooperation in righteousness and piety.

The king stressed that "the march of human fraternity needs more than ever to revive the means of rapprochement as a basic entry point for substituting consensus for disagreement, and establishing unity in place of division."

The King of Bahrain affirmed that "the current situation requires us... to agree first on one opinion, to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war, and to start serious negotiations for the good of all mankind."

And he expressed his country's readiness to "provide what this endeavor requires."

For his part, Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb said, in his speech at the Martyr's Square in the Sakhir Royal Palace, that the cause of the tragedies witnessed in some countries of the world is the absence of social justice controls.

He added that East and West need each other, and we should not despair that relations between the two sides will regain their health.

He stressed that the Human Fraternity Document provided a model for dialogue, and highlighted the importance of the relationship between East and West.

He also called for stopping the Russian-Ukrainian war, and for sitting down to the table of dialogue and negotiations.

In his speech, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar said, “I add my voice to that of philanthropists who call for peace, stopping the Russian-Ukrainian war, and shedding innocent blood... and raising the banner of peace instead of the banner of victory, and sitting in the circle of dialogue and negotiations.

I also call for an end to the fighting in various parts of the world, to rebuild bridges of dialogue, understanding and trust in order to restore peace in a world saturated with wounds.

And so that the alternative would not be more suffering of poor peoples.” In his speech, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar made an appeal to Islamic scholars in the whole world, regardless of their sects, sects and schools, to hasten to hold a serious Islamic-Islamic dialogue, in order to establish unity, rapprochement and acquaintance. The causes of discord, sedition and sectarian conflict in particular are rejected.”

In a speech to Pope Francis at the end of the forum, he warned against violence and resorting to arms around the world.

He said that the Human Fraternity Document laid the foundations for dialogue and rapprochement for the benefit of humanity.

The pope called on the clergy to help pull the world back from "the brink of the abyss" and reiterate opposition to a new race to rearm, which he said was redrawing Cold War-era spheres of influence.

He said, "After two horrific world wars, and a cold war, in which the world has been holding its breath for dozens of years, catastrophic conflicts are taking place in all regions of the world, and amid accusations, threats and condemnations, we still find ourselves on the edge of an abyss and we do not want to fall."

He added, "Unfortunately, the East and the West are increasingly like two antagonistic seas, but we are here together, because we are determined to sail the same sea, and our choice is the path of meeting instead of the path of confrontation, and the path of dialogue that this forum refers to."

The Pope warned of what he described as a "tragic scenario".

"We play with fire, with rockets and missiles, with weapons that cause tears and death, and we cover the common house with ashes and hate," he said.

Yesterday, the King of Bahrain received the Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, in the presence of a number of ministers and senior Bahraini officials, at the Sakhir Air Base Airport.

The King stressed that the efforts of the Sheikh of Al-Azhar in spreading the culture of human brotherhood, world peace and interfaith dialogue are bearing noticeable results, and that what he has been doing for years has been appreciated by all leaders and wise men around the world, especially in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For his part, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar expressed his happiness to meet King Hamad bin Issa, stressing his appreciation for what he is doing in the service of his people and his support for the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations.
