North Korea fired one long-range ballistic missile and two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on the morning of the 3rd, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.



In particular, it is known that the military authorities estimate that the long-range ballistic missile launched into the East Sea from the Sunan area of ​​Pyongyang around 7:40 am was the Hwasong 17, which was first unveiled by North Korea last year.



After successful separation of the second stage, the missile failed to fly normally and was reported to have landed in the East Sea.



In addition, two short-range ballistic missiles launched into the East Sea from the Gaecheon area in South Pyongan Province around 8:39 a.m. are known to have different launch points.



This short-range ballistic missile landed on the same target in the East Sea.



The long-range ballistic missile had a flight range of about 760 km, an altitude of about 1,920 km, and a speed of about Mach 15.



Kim Seung-gyeom, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a joint meeting between the ROK and the US with the Commander-in-Chief Lacamera immediately after the launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea, and confirmed that the situation would be closely shared and that the combined defense posture would be strengthened against any threat or provocation from North Korea, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. .
