As you can see, North Korea's movements are unusual, so we need to look at whether our military's defenses are strong.

However, following the recent problem with our pre-emptive strike missile, this time the interceptor missile also failed to launch.

The details will be delivered by Kim Tae-hoon, a defense expert reporter.

Air Force held a guided missile shooting contest yesterday (2nd) at Daecheon Shooting Range in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.

We conducted live-fire training with the Patriot Pack 2 for intercepting low-altitude ballistic missiles and the Cheongung for intercepting aircraft.

However, the Cheongung flew 25km for about 10 seconds after launch and exploded in the air in the West Sea.

He discovered a defect in the missile he was originally going to fire, and changed it to a spare shot, but even this self-destructed due to a poor signal between the radar and the guided missile.

A military official said, "It is presumed that the airborne suicide was to prevent a ground collision as communication between the guided missile and the fire control radar continued to be unstable."

In Patriot Pack 2, an error was caught just before launch, and the launch itself did not proceed.

A military official said, "The first shot was fired normally, but an error signal was displayed on the fire control monitor from the second shot."

Pack 2 is in charge of low-altitude defense of the South Korean missile defense system KAMD, which intercepts North Korean missiles.

The self-destructed Cheongung is a basic type for intercepting aircraft, but it is very similar in structure and parts to the improved Cheongung-II, which is in charge of KAMD's medium altitude.

[Shin Jong-woo / Senior Analyst, Korea Defense Security Forum: L-SAM, which is in charge of KAMD's high altitude, is currently under development, and the red light is on in Chungung and Pack 2, which are in charge of KAMD's low and medium altitudes.]

Military Defense Science Research Institute After analyzing the cause of the error with , manufacturers, etc., we plan to decide whether to proceed with the remaining shooting competition scheduled for the 9th.
