It was in August last year that the 27-year-old had stopped his car at a traffic light in Helsingborg when two cars approached at high speed.

According to witnesses, both cars blocked the 27-year-old's car.

From a third car, a masked driver fired six shots, after which all three cars left the scene at high speed.

The 27-year-old survived and was helped to get to hospital.

The police found a car in a residential area where there was a cartridge case that disappeared from those used in the attempted murder.

They also found DNA from the shooter and from a woman.

Found a car in a car wash

Another of the cars, which was used in the shooting, was found in a car wash where staff had started cleaning it inside.

The driver, a 25-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 26-year-old man, were arrested there.

The man was wearing a protective vest and a knife.

In August, all three were sentenced to fourteen, eleven and ten years in prison for attempted murder.

Now the Court of Appeal has tried the case and confirms the sentence for the 26-year-old man and the 25-year-old woman.

However, the Court of Appeal acquits the man who was suspected of having fired the shots, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the district court.

The alleged shooter is acquitted

Unlike the District Court, the Court of Appeal considers that the evidence is not sufficient against the alleged shooter.

- Admittedly, there are several circumstances that are troubling for the man accused of having fired the shots, but there is no concrete evidence that links him to the crime scene, says Court of Appeal lawyer Margita Åhsberg, chairman of the case.

All three have denied wrongdoing.
