The waiters and cooks must have thought they were dreaming.

On January 20, these employees of a restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado (United States) discovered that a customer had left a tip of 1,400 dollars.

The client had come to eat a hearty breakfast that day at the Notchtop Bakery & Cafe.

The bill he had to pay was about twenty dollars.

But the man decided to add a very generous “tips”.

The gesture "really moved all the waiters and cooks — you know, nobody ever thinks about cooks," the restaurant owner told

“Covid sucks”

The customer had first asked the waitress looking after him how many people were working in the restaurant that day.

He then left a tip of $1,400, specifying that each employee could thus receive $200 each.

The man had also left a message on the bill: "Covid sucks" ("The Covid sucks").

A gesture of support for all the employees of the restaurant, which has not closed its doors since the start of the pandemic but is facing difficulties.

"I wanted to thank all those who sympathize with small traders for their kindness," said the restaurant manager.

They have a big heart.
