Mohammed bin Rashid amends some provisions of the Law of Decorations, Badges and Badges of the Dubai Police Force

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, issued Law No. (20) of 2022 amending some provisions of Law No. (10) of 1997 regarding the decorations, badges and insignia of the Dubai Police Force.

The law stipulated the replacement of the texts of Articles (5) and (9) of Law No. (10) of 1997, with two new texts related to determining decorations, badges and insignia, and their layers.

Article (5), in its new text, divides medals into several categories:

The Order of Valor (one layer), the Dubai Police Medal (five layers), the Loyal Service Medal (two layers), the Dubai Police Golden Jubilee Medal (one layer) and is of gold, and the Expo 2020 Dubai Medal (of one layer) and is from gold.

The medals were also divided into categories: Excellent Service Medal (two layers), Security Cooperation Medal (two layers), and any other medal determined by the Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, and with regard to badges, they were divided into a badge of appreciation (two layers), and any other badge. To be determined by the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.



Medals



Article (9) of the amended law stipulates awarding the "Loyal Service Medal" to military officers, non-commissioned officers and individuals who have spent no less than ten years of active service related to the force, during which they were distinguished by their loyalty to the highest values ​​and ideals, and to the enjoyment of dignity. The first layer of the medal is for officers “and it shall be of gold”, and the second layer: for non-commissioned officers and individuals “and it shall be of silver”, and whenever this medal is repeatedly awarded, a distinctive mark is placed on his medal and badge.

According to the law, the "Dubai Police Golden Jubilee Medal" is granted to military and civilian members of the force who continue to serve, and who have served a continuous period of no less than twenty-five years on May 31, 2006, and the "Expo 2020 Dubai Medal" is awarded to military and civilian members of the force. It may be granted to members of the public and military personnel from outside the force, who have performed great services or performed distinguished work during the hosting of the Emirate of Dubai for Expo 2020 Dubai.



Any provision in any other legislation shall be repealed to the extent that it contradicts the provisions of this law, which is published in the Official Gazette, and shall be enforced from the date of its publication.
