Several apartment buildings were completely destroyed in the fires at Koppargården in Landskrona in 2020. Now Koppargården 25 has been completely renovated and the apartments have been updated to modern standards.

- Parts of the costs have been taken by the insurance company and other parts we have had to pay ourselves.

But it has cost approximately 100 million to renovate, says Mikael Forsberg, CEO of Landskronahem.

The tenant association, which represents several former residents of the building, thinks that the rent increase has hit hard.

- We understand that it needs to be renovated, but it has become too expensive for the tenants, says Jan-Åke Linderoth at the Tenants' Association.

In the video, you can hear how Landskronahem responds to the criticism.

Hard to stay

The renovation costs have led to an average increase in rents of approximately 30 percent, which in turn has meant that several of those who previously lived there now cannot afford to move back.

SVT Nyheter has been in contact with several tenants who wish to remain anonymous.

They say that they would have liked to move back to their old apartments, but after the rent increase, they can't afford it.

In addition to the rent increase, all tenants at Landskronahem have received a rent increase of one percent to cover the increased insurance premium that came as a result of the fires.
