Elon Musk has been the owner of Twitter for only three days and in his new role as Chief Twit “living the dream” has already posted his first conspiracy theory.

Responding to a tweet from Hillary Clinton about the violent attack suffered last Friday by the husband of the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, Musk tweeted the link to an article containing a conspiracy theory according to which Paul Pelosi, drunk, had actually come to blows with a prostitute.

The theory is not supported by any evidence.

The text of Musk's tweet suggested: "There is a slight possibility that there is more behind this story."

The tweet was deleted a few hours after publication.

He had received 28,000 retweets and 100,000 likes.

The source of Musk's reference is a newspaper completely discredited for some time, the Santa Monica Observer, which for example in 2016 claimed that the real Hillary Clinton was dead and a stunt double participated in the TV debate against Trump.

What guarantor will Musk be the pro-conspiratorialist against disinformation?

The Chief Twit before and after the acquisition made promises to everyone: to advertisers ("It will not be a no man's land"), to the banned ("Anyone who has been suspended for trivial reasons or doubts will be released from Twitter prison"), to those who fear the spread of trolls and toxicity (“We will form a content moderation council”), to the states, of which it has repeatedly stated that it will respect the rules (good luck with the regimes).

What promises will he want and which will he be able to keep?

The dismissal of top management, the revision of the code, the very heavy cuts in staff speak of an interventionist anxiety that perhaps believes in the existence of simple solutions for an issue that is extremely complex, and that not even the old Twitter was yet managed to fully solve: the creation of free, different, tolerant and just places.

"Too early to tell", replied Zhou Enlai, first prime minister of the People's Republic of China, to those who had asked him for an opinion on the impact of the French Revolution. A century and a half had passed but more time was needed for a judgment. After three days can we already give an answer on Elon Musk?
