Fake police showed up at the home of an elderly person living in Aix-les-Bains (Savoie) on Thursday.

According to

Le Dauphiné Libéré

, the crooks dressed in blue and wearing gloves pretended a burglary in a neighboring house to invite themselves into the victim's accommodation.

Aged about forty, they would have explained to him that they had to do checks in his garden.

But after they left, the elderly person found that valuables and money had been taken from him.

She warned the real agents of the national police who opened an investigation.

How not to get trapped?

The national police recall that the elderly or vulnerable are regularly the target of thieves.

In such a situation, it is recommended to check the business card of the agent who shows up at the door.

This card must include a photo, an electronic chip and a security sticker.

If in doubt, it is advisable to call the police by dialing 17.
