Two men were arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday in Nice.

They are suspected of having used fake gift certificates in stores on the Côte d'Azur.

An investigation is underway.

Two similar cases in three days

Last Saturday, a first suspect tried to pay for his purchases at the Cap 3000 shopping center in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, with four fake coupons, indicates BFM TV.

According to media reports, the police were called again, three days later, for the same situation in downtown Nice.

The individual was trying to get a cell phone.

The police discovered on the latter, a checkbook with 30 false formulas for a total of more than 1,000 euros.

He claimed that he bought this notebook from a colleague.

After quickly linking the two stories, investigators identified two other accomplices who were arrested at their home and placed in police custody on Wednesday.

During the search, the police found the remains of an empty checkbook and a new vacuum cleaner bought on Tuesday using these same coupons.
