The moose family that camped in a residential area in Köping has become a big talking point.

Some time ago it seemed as if it had left the residential area anyway, but on Monday a lone moose cow was back.

It was quite clear when the municipality's game warden answered the phone.

- It was a landowner who called me and was very upset about having been chased by a moose.

He just managed to get to safety before the moose got too close, says Michael Gustavsson, game warden.

Decision to shoot

According to the game warden, the circumstances were such that the right to hunt belonged to the state and after contact with the police it was decided that the moose would be shot.

- The moose was in a garden and I killed it calmly and carefully, with a soft bullet, which stays in the animal so that no one else gets hurt.

Calves gone

In SVT Nyheter Västmanland's previous reporting, a moose cow had a couple of calves with her.

- She was alone now, so I think the calves may have already been shot, I hope so that there can be some peace and quiet in this area.

How common is it for this to happen?

- Not usual, I have been a municipal hunter for a quarter of a century and have never before shot a moose.

Lunch for children and the elderly

Now the moose will hang in a cold room and then the game warden intends to make minced meat, which he has offered to the municipality's preschools and care for the elderly.

- I have spoken to the municipality's officials and they were absolutely lyrical, so I hope they make some food where you can feel the taste, like meatballs or hamburgers, not chili con carne.

Why do you want to donate the meat to preschools and care for the elderly?

- Yes you, they don't usually get the best food, so I think they deserve something good and hope that this story can have a positive ending.
