Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib told Al Jazeera that the Lebanese government will publish the text of the maritime border demarcation agreement with Israel officially after signing it, while the American mediator Amos Hochstein arrives this evening in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to follow up on the procedures for signing the agreement tomorrow.

Bouhabib announced that Total will start work in the Qana field to explore for gas after the signing of the agreement, noting that the Lebanese have hope that Lebanon will become an oil country.

Energean, the operator of the Israeli Karish field, started extracting natural gas from this field after reaching an agreement with Lebanon to demarcate the maritime borders between them.

And Israeli media reported that the extraction process began with a green light from the Israeli Ministry of Energy on the eve of the expected signing of the agreement signed with Lebanon tomorrow, Thursday, at the United Nations headquarters (UNIFIL) in Ras Al-Naqoura, southern Lebanon.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Jerusalem stated that the Israeli government will meet tomorrow morning to vote on the agreement to be signed by Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid before it is sent by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy for the Lebanese side to sign it.

The American mediator, Amos Hochstein, is scheduled to arrive this evening in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to follow up on the procedures for signing the agreement.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Hochstein will hand over to Lebanese President Michel Aoun the official US document related to the agreement between Lebanon and Israel, to be followed by a meeting at UNIFIL headquarters to sign separately by the delegations of Lebanon and Israel the text of the agreement.

It is noteworthy that the agreement stipulates the adoption of Line 23 to demarcate the maritime borders and grant Lebanon the entire Qana oil field.
