Vattenfall plans to raise its fees for electricity transmission from the regional grid to the local grid by 68 percent.

Vattenfall's justification is that the high electricity prices affect their costs for electricity network losses and costs for subscriptions to Svenska Kraftnät.

- The increase came as a shock to us who operate electricity grids at the local level, says Inger Niss, who is responsible area manager for electricity grids and city grids at Jönköping energi.

Strong increase

The increase in the fee for electricity transmission will mean an increased cost of roughly SEK 50 million for Jönköping's energy.

How much extra the customers have to pay is currently unclear.

- We have started to look into it, but we are waiting for a definitive announcement from Vattenfall at the beginning of November, so therefore we cannot answer that now, she says.

But will the increase be big?

- Yes, they can expect a sharp increase, hopefully it won't be as sharp an increase as Vattenfall announced, says Inger Niss.

The increase is expected after the turn of the year.
