During the weekend, Sergej Shoigu's phone ran hot.

The Russian defense minister called the defense ministers of Turkey, France and Britain and warned that Ukraine will escalate the war by using "dirty bombs" in which radioactive substances are spread by explosive charges.

Shoigu also believes that the Western countries plan to support Ukraine's plans.

The accusations are rejected by all NATO allies.

SVT's correspondent Bert Sundström believes that the Russian accusations may be about the setbacks in the war.

- Then you have to find means to slow down Ukraine's success.

Then it could possibly be that you yourself have prepared something very unpleasant, but that is just speculation, he says.

Bert Sundström emphasizes that he does not believe that Russia will use nuclear weapons, but believes that Putin is unpredictable.

- It is quite unlikely that Russia will resort to nuclear weapons, but we have seen that the regime in the Kremlin is prepared to resort to methods that we did not think they could do.
