A 26-year-old man appearing in court on Monday for sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl, leaving a college in Reims (Marne).

He was found guilty and sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence.

He will also have to compensate the victim, up to 1,800 €.

The facts of which he was accused dated back to September 29, reports

The schoolgirl said the man followed her, then asked for her phone number and Instagram ID before pushing her to the back of a building courtyard.

The teenager then refused the proposal to have a drink with the stranger.

He then placed his cheek on "the corner of the mouth" of the victim and touched her chest, she testified.

The respondent finally grabbed the teenager by the arm to drag her away, but let her go.

In police custody, the individual claimed to have wanted to help the young girl when she was being bothered.

He was inadmissible for ten years and his name was placed on the sex offenders list.
