In the past year, the price of electricity has fluctuated sharply up and down.

In periods when the price has been high, the electricity trading company has been forced to buy electricity at a higher price than what they have in the agreement with their customers.

This has led to large losses.

- We have had to pay more than what we can sell for, says Kjell Andersson, CEO of Eskilstuna Strängnäs elförsäljning AB.

The majority want to sell

When the ruling majority in Eskilstuna, consisting of M and S, recently presented their plan for the future, they announced that the electricity trading company should be sold and instead should work in partnership with other companies.

The reason is stated to be the financial risks the business entails.

- I understand the concern and that you want us to really look into this.

I see a partnership as a great opportunity to minimize the risks and really make sure that this will be a good deal even in the long run.

High electricity prices have different effects.
