Hyman noted that Kissinger's analysis is guided by pragmatism, while Biden makes loud and "not entirely constructive" statements about Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"Kissinger is making it clear that the Western media's impassioned condemnation of Russia as an 'expansionist dictatorship' misses the mark," he said.

Kissinger said earlier that prolonging the conflict in Ukraine could lead to an escalation and should be completed through negotiations.

He expressed hope that the NATO countries would be able to agree among themselves what the results of the negotiations should be.
