Giorgia Meloni, 45, has accepted this responsibility, becoming the first woman called to this function in the country's history.

She will present the composition of her government on Friday afternoon, which will take the oath on Saturday morning at the Quirinal Palace.

The delegation composed of party leaders and presidents of all the political forces of the center right coalition which met with President Mattarella agreed with President Mattarella on the need to provide this nation with a new government as quickly as possible, because the emergencies we are facing are very numerous both nationally and internationally.

The entire coalition which, unsurprisingly, met for the consultations, gave a unanimous indication, let's say, like the parliamentary majority, by proposing to the President of the Republic that he appoint me to be the person responsible for forming the new government.

Pro-Draghi Giancarlo Giorgetti appointed economy minister

Giancarlo Giorgetti, 55, is considered a powerful but discreet figure in Matteo Salvini's (extreme right) League, of which he is considered one of the most moderate and pro-European representatives.

He spent most of his political career in the League.

A man of conviction, he did not hesitate to take the opposite view of the sovereigntist Salvini and to mute the euroscepticism of this populist party to join the national unity government of Mario Draghi.

Within the League, hardliners consider him the overly moderate leader of the "Draghini", but publicly he has always denied the slightest disagreement with Matteo Salvini.

His political mentor is Umberto Bossi, founder of the Northern League.
