This was stated by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who arrived at the EU summit in Brussels.

“We have reached an agreement to replace the Midcat project with a new project, which will be called the “green energy corridor,” TASS quotes Sanchez.

According to him, this project will connect the Iberian Peninsula with France "and therefore with the European energy market."

According to the newspaper La Vanguardia, the new pipeline will be called BarMar.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the failure of the German authorities to create the necessary infrastructure for gas imports a mistake.

He also suggested resuming the Midcat project to deliver gas from Algeria to Central Europe.
