The vademecum

"Essential indications for a correct setting of gas heating systems"

comes from Enea,  which aims to facilitate the implementation of measures to contain methane consumption for domestic heating on the basis of the recent decree of the Ministry of Ecological Transition

(No. 383 of 6 October 2022).

“The first part of the manual recalls the legislative prescriptions dictated by the ministry and illustrates to the citizen the main management systems of domestic heating systems.

The second, on the other hand, provides practical indications for the regulation of systems in homes, based on the regulation and control devices installed ”, explains

Ilaria Bertini

, director of the Enea energy efficiency department.

The guide, which the condominium administrators will have to distribute to the condominiums, contains operating instructions on switching the systems on and off at the beginning and end of the heating season, on the regulation of the domestic hot water temperature and on the flow of the systems to set the internal temperature of the dwellings at a maximum of 19 ° C, with some exceptions.

Enea has calculated that these measures, if implemented by 80% of Italian families, can result

in national savings of

2.7

billion cubic meters of methane

 and

around 180 euros less per year on average per user

.

With the start of the heating season, which this year begins on 22 October in over half of the 8,000 Italian municipalities, Enea also proposes

10 practical rules

to better heat homes, save on bills and protect the environment by reducing emissions of CO2.

The Decalogue:

  • Plant maintenance

  • Check the temperature of the rooms

: 19 degrees are enough to guarantee the necessary comfort at home.

For each degree less you can save up to 10% on fuel consumption

  • Pay attention to the ignition hours

: the new rules reduce the ignition times allowed up to now by 1 hour.

Check which of the 6 climatic zones of Italy you live in.

  • Installing reflective panels between the wall and the radiator

, even a simple sheet of aluminum foil helps to reduce dispersion towards the outside.

  • Shielding windows at night

, shutters and shutters or even heavy curtains reduce heat loss to the outside.

  • Avoid obstacles in front of the radiators

  • Don't leave the windows open for too long

  • Get your home checked up

  • Install thermostatic valves

  • Choose the latest generation solutions
