With our correspondent in Conakry,

For his first day of appearance, Aboubacar Diakité, known as "

Toumba

 ", did not mention

the events of September 28, 2009

at all  : he returned at length to the events that preceded the seizure of power by the National Council to Democracy and Development (CNDD), headed

by Captain Moussa Dadis Camara

in December 2008, the day after the death of General Lansana Conté.

The former aide-de-camp to the ex-junta leader then promised and swore to tell the whole truth in this trial.

I do think that Mr.

'Toumba

'

is not like the defendants who preceded him and who adopted lies as a defense strategy

," explains Mr. Lanciné Sylla, the defendant's lawyer.

Mr. Toumba is a sincere person and is ready to tell the truth, because he knows that it is at a price that he will be acquitted

.

Even the defense lawyers of the other defendants had sympathy for "

Toumba

 " Diakité.

Mr. Donah Sampil, lawyer for Captain Moussa Dadis Camara wants to believe in the sincerity of “

Toumba

 ” Diakité: “

It must be said that

“Toumba”

apparently benefits from reports of sincerity, truth and control of the situation.

He made revelations and we retain, until proven otherwise, that what he says seems true.

“

Toumba

” Diakité asked the former president to assume his responsibilities and ask for forgiveness from the people of Guinea.
