Rose-Marie Holmqvist(S) will be the first female KF chairman in Växjö municipality ever.

It was decided at the first municipal council meeting after the election held on Tuesday.

Bo Frank, (M), who had been nominated by all alliance parties except the Center Party, thus had to see himself defeated.

He has been chairman of the municipal council in Växjö since he stepped down as chairman of the municipal board in 2017. Bo Frank was elected second vice chairman instead.

Closed poll

It was a closed vote where all 61 members left a note with a name in an urn, which was then counted.

The result landed in 32 voting for Rose-Marie Holmqvist and 29 for Bo Frank.

The result clearly points to the Center Party's adamant support of the red-green minority in the municipality.

C, S, V and MP have exactly 32 mandates together, against M, KD, L and SD's 29.

- We have now come to the conclusion that the Center Party cannot find a way with the Alliance with our participation and therefore choose to cancel the negotiations, says Andreas Olsson, municipal councilor Center Party.
