The

Superior Court of Justice of Aragon

(TSJA) has ratified the sentence imposed on

Pedro Lozano

, known as

Rambo de Requena

, who was sentenced by the

Provincial Court of Teruel

to 27 years and three months in prison for two crimes of attempted murder against two agents of the Civil Guard.

The sentence of the

Criminal Chamber of

the TSJA, known this Monday, rejects Lozano's appeal and considers it proven that he shot the agents, during his flight through the province of Teruel, with a clear intention to kill and using a weapon modified to increase its damaging capacity.

Likewise, he rejects the appeal of the accusation, pointing out that the circumstance that the agents were trying to identify him "deactivates" the concurrence of treachery.

Also that the fact of using modified ammunition implies a harmfulness in the spirit of killing, but not in that of cruelty, causing greater pain to a civil guard agent.

Jorge Piedrafita

, lawyer for the two Civil Guard officers who were shot, accepts the sentence, but has pointed out that it maintains a lower sentence rating for acts that were very serious and that "could cost the lives of two exemplary Guard servants Civilians who risked their lives to safeguard the safety of the citizenry."

The legal representation of the agents requested a conviction for murder.

An agent went through the operating room seven times

The Teruel Provincial Court sentenced

Rambo de Requena

to a total of 27 years in prison for two crimes of attempted murder against two Civil Guard agents.

In the sentence, the Court imposed 11 years in prison for the crime of attempted murder against one of the agents who was going to identify him.

He seriously injured her arm by shooting her with a sawed-off shotgun loaded with pellets.

The civil guard went through the operating room seven times in 44 days.

The court indicated that he also tried to kill the other agent who was in the patrol car, although he did not injure him, for which he added nine years in prison.

In addition, he imposed nine months in prison for illegal possession of weapons;

four and a half years for the crime of robbery with force in a house;

one year in prison for reckless driving and another nine months in prison for a crime of coercion.

Likewise, Pedro Lozano will have to pay a fine of 2,160 euros for the crime of continued theft and compensation totaling more than 236,000 euros.

Most of this amount, 235,233.96 euros, to the injured agent, who had to undergo several operations to recover the mobility of his arm, burst by the shots.

An escape through the forest

The presence in the province of Pedro Lozano, 30 years old, was detected after committing various violent crimes in the

Valencian Community

and leading a long escape through wooded areas and countryside.

On June 8, 2020, he stole a rifle and a car in the Teruel town of

El Castelar

, where he had hidden in an uninhabited house.

He then moved in the stolen vehicle to

Muniesa

, where he was cornered in an alley from which he confronted the two members of the Civil Guard who were chasing him and trying to identify him.

One of the officers was seriously injured in the arm and abdomen.

After the shooting, he fled on foot through the streets of Muniesa and stole another vehicle that was parked, unlocked and with the keys in the ignition.

He continued his flight to

Andorra

, where, due to his speed, he crashed into a wall.

He got out of the vehicle and continued his escape on foot through the streets of that Teruel town, still armed with the 12-gauge shotgun with which he had shot at the agents, and which he had stolen three years earlier in Valencia.

In his flight, he climbed into the rear door of a vehicle whose driver was behind the wheel, and asked him to take him out of the municipality in exchange for not doing anything to him.

The driver took him to an area of orchards outside the urban area of Andorra, where the criminal got out of the vehicle to continue his escape on foot.

Shortly after, he was intercepted by the great deployment of the Civil Guard, although he refused to surrender and pointed his shotgun at the agents.

He was finally able to be arrested after an agent shot him and he was injured, which is why he had to be transferred by helicopter to a hospital in

Zaragoza

.

Since then,

Rambo de Requena

has been in provisional prison awaiting the trial that was held on March 22 and 23 at the Teruel Court.
