California police believe they have arrested a serial killer.

Wesley Brownlee, 43, was arrested on Saturday by Stockton police in the United States.

He would be the author of six homicides which have shaken since last year this city of central California, where 350,000 people reside and which is located about sixty kilometers south of the state capital, Sacramento.

Wesley Brownlee was taken into custody on Saturday morning after “hunting” for another possible victim, local police chief Stanley McFadden said at a press conference.

"He was on a mission to kill," said the policeman, adding that Wesley Brownlee was carrying a firearm when he was apprehended.

We are sure we have prevented another murder.

A woman survived an attack

Wesley Brownlee is expected to appear in court on Tuesday to be charged, local prosecutor Tori Verber Salazar said, adding that her office is reviewing the evidence to determine what charges will be brought against him.

“This crime was solved because we are residents of Stockton.

Because we don't come to us to make this kind of terror reign, ”said the magistrate.

Five men were killed in a Stockton neighborhood between July 8 and September 27 in partly similar circumstances.

Another man was put to death in April 2021 in Oakland, 80 km west of Stockton.

The victims were between the ages of 21 and 54.

A woman has survived a gun attack believed to have been carried out by Wesley Brownlee.

Investigators are still trying to determine a possible motive.
