- I want to take my responsibility and at the same time apologize for the mistakes that were made, says Liz Truss in the interview.

Mistakes made during her, to say the least, limited time as party leader, mistakes she now claims to have rectified.

In the interview, Truss admits that she moved too quickly, and too far, promising citizens both tax cuts and subsidies for high energy bills at the same time.

An unfunded budget that would cause huge holes in the treasury and sent both the British pound and the financial market crashing.

Something she now claims to have corrected by replacing finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng with Jeremy Hunt.

Absence during question time

Truss was not even present during parts of Monday's question time in the House of Commons, but instead let the majority leader Penny Mordaunt answer questions about the government's politics.

Nevertheless, she expects to keep her job, despite merciless criticism from both her own ranks and the opposition.

- The important thing is that I have been chosen for my job to deliver for the country.

We are headed for very tough times and simply cannot afford to waste time talking about the Conservative Party when we have to deliver.

That is my message to party colleagues.
