A notice of disappearance had been issued by the Namur public prosecutor's office and the Belgian federal police.

Extensive search devices had been deployed around his house.

A helicopter and tracking dogs had notably been mobilized, in vain.

The body discovered on an embankment

Before being classified, an investigator decided to resume the investigation this Friday and used images from Google Street View.

On one of them, he then saw the octogenarian crossing the road to go to the house of his neighbor.

Obviously, the old lady had been photographed, the day of her disappearance, by a Google car traveling the streets to map the surroundings.

After this discovery, the police went to the back of the garden of the neighbor in question.

Officers found the octogenarian's body on an embankment, two years after the disappearance was reported.

An autopsy must now determine the causes of death.
