When it became clear in 2020 that Skellefteå would lose an ambulance at night, it was met with strong protests from the staff.

They believed that patient safety was compromised when there were only two ambulances in the municipality instead of three.

On several occasions after the move, patients in Skellefteå must have had to wait for an ambulance.

Above all, the ambulances in Robertsfors and Norsjö have had to cover since the resource in Skellefteå disappeared.

- It was wrong to move it two years ago, but now we are getting back three annual positions and think it will be significantly better.

Above all, Norsjö and Robertsfors have had to pull a heavy load and we get better coverage in those areas, says Mattias Lundmark, head of the ambulance department in Skellefteå.

The hope is that the ambulance that Skellefteå is now getting back will start rolling in mid-December.
