Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun made a name for herself from the age of 14 as a talented portrait painter, to the point of working for Marie-Antoinette both at Versailles.

But painting the Queen was not without danger and the presentation in 1786 of a painting showing the sovereign in a muslin housecoat caused a great scandal!

Despite the criticism, the Queen maintains her confidence in him.
