In Belarus, a case was opened against Belarusian mercenaries from a battalion in Ukraine

“According to the investigation, a group of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, being on the territory of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland, inspired by the ideas of nationalism and following the patterns of the chauvinist ideology of the armed groups of the neighboring country, cooperated and created an extremist formation ... In its composition, the mercenaries consolidated the most ardent representatives of the “radical world”, as well as persons hiding from criminal prosecution for committing various crimes,” the statement says.

It is specified that these militants are participating in the battles on the side of Ukraine, and are also preparing for an armed seizure of power in Belarus.

“The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Art.

361-1 (creation of an extremist formation or participation in it) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus," the department stressed.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Belarus began special proceedings against members of the Vesna Center and the editors of the NEXTA group of Telegram channels.
