The death toll from Saturday's mudslide in Las Tejerias in north-central Venezuela has risen from 25 to 36, Interior Minister Remigio Ceballos said Monday.

"Unfortunately, we have 36 people dead at the moment and 56 people missing," Ceballos announced in a video posted on his ministry's Twitter feed.

The previous death toll was 52.
