The president of the TS and the CGPJ, Carlos Lesmes, will formalize his resignation tomorrow, according to a statement made available to the press this afternoon by the General Council of the Judiciary.

Lesmes is leaving after the deadline announced to the members of the Council in the plenary session on September 29 ended this Sunday without the Government and the opposition having reached an agreement for the renewal of the governing body of the judges or for the return of their powers .

The contacts developed between the political forces as a result of the visit of the Justice Commissioner of the European Commission have not produced any positive results.

Lesmes will immediately return to active service in the Judicial Career and will join his destiny as a magistrate in the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court, according to a note provided by the CGPJ.
