The Palestinian Prisoners Club said today, Sunday, that the number of prisoners on hunger strike in the Israeli occupation prisons has risen to 50, in rejection of the administrative detention policy.

Administrative detention is a decision to imprison by an Israeli military order, alleging the existence of a “secret file” for the detainee without an indictment, and extends for 6 months, renewable several times.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club (non-governmental) said in a statement that 20 prisoners joined the open hunger strike that 30 prisoners started 15 days ago.

The club indicated that the striking prisoners continued to boycott the Israeli courts of various degrees as a step in protest against their arrest.

Meanwhile, dozens of prisoners' families and representatives of human rights organizations held a solidarity stand with the striking prisoners in the city of Al-Bireh in the occupied West Bank.

The participants demanded the necessity of putting pressure on Israel to stop its policy and release the administrative prisoners.

It is noteworthy that the number of administrative prisoners in the occupation prisons reached 800 prisoners until the end of last month, the highest since 2015.
