The Emirates Foundation for School Education launched the "Education Councils" initiative for school leaders and teachers in public schools, with the aim of involving the educational field in the process of developing the educational system and making decisions, and benefiting from the field's expertise in this field, in a way that advances the aspirations of the state and achieves its goals and objectives in the education sector.

The "Education Councils", which will be chaired by the Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, chairwoman of the Emirates School Education Foundation, include three councils: the School Leaders Council (school principals), the Teachers Council, and the Young Teachers Council. The councils aim to: Representing administrative and educational cadres in decision-making processes, developing the work environment in the educational field, and supporting the process of developing educational professions in the UAE, as well as finding solutions to the challenges of the educational field, and working on them by available and innovative means.

The councils include in their membership representatives from the educational field from government schools, in order to achieve the state’s direction in creating a constructive educational movement, which will positively reflect on the quality of the educational system’s outputs, by activating the role of teachers in the process of setting priorities in the field, and moving forward in developing educational policies, and adapting them to respond Plans for development and modernization in the educational system.

Al-Amiri stressed that the “education councils” come as a translation of the great and pivotal role that the educational field represents in achieving the goals of the educational system, and based on the importance of their involvement in developing innovative educational plans and policies, in order to ensure their positive participation in the efforts to advance the national education system in the country, and improve its competitiveness on the global level.

She indicated that male and female teachers have very important roles in translating national priorities in the education file, taking it forward towards broader horizons of development and keeping pace, and providing it with all the elements of its leadership and competitiveness at the global level, by improving educational outcomes and upgrading its knowledge and skill.

She stressed that the teacher represents the pillar of the educational system, and one of its most important elements, and his efforts in the field represent the basis through which we can achieve the aspirations of the state in the education sector, indicating that the educational field is replete with honorable educational models, who have expertise, visions and unique experiences in the educational matter. The School Leaders Council includes 14 members from each emirate.
